Walter C. Scott, 80, Retired postal worker, WWII veteran

Walter C. Scott, 80, of Prospect Park, a retired postal worker and World War II veteran, died Dec. 17 at St. Mary's Medical Center, Langhorne, Pa.[1]

Born in Philadelphia, Mr. Scott moved to Prospect Park in 1953. He was employed with the U.S. Postal Service and worked at the Springfield Post Office for ten years, retiring in 1966.

A World War II veteran, Mr. Scott served in the U.S. Air Force as a gunner on bombers. He also served for a period of time in the Pennsylvania Air National Guard.

Mr. Scott was a member of Olivet Presbyterian Church and the National Association of Letter Carriers.

He was the widower of Thelma Scott, who died in 1994.

Survivors: Sons, Walter C. Scott Jr. of Springfield, Ronald Scott of Prospect Park; daughter, Deborah Casteel of Cherry Hill, N.J.; sisters, Isabella Jeffrey, Margaret Wilson, both of Clifton Heights; brothers, Thomas Scott III of King of Prussia, Henry W. Scott of Phoenixville; four grandchildren.

Service: 11 a.m. Wednesday, Griffith Funeral Chapel, 520 Chester Pike, Norwood.

Visitation: After 10 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Burial: Mt. Moriah Cemetery, Southwest Philadelphia.
